国立リオグランデ・デ・ソル芸術大学でドゥルセ・マチャド氏に師事。1972年から77年までリオデジャネイロ国立音楽大学でミゲル・プロエンサ教授の下で研鑽を積む。卒業後、西ドイツ政府交換留学生として渡独。ハノーファー国立音楽大学で、ハンス・ライグラフ氏に師事。その後、ハンブルグ国立音楽大学でヤーラ・ベルネッテ氏に師事。卒業後は、沢山のコンサートやリサイタルへの招聘を受け、ヨーロッパや日本、中東のオーケストラとの共演を果たす。また数多くのドイツ歌曲もレパートリーとする。教育分野にも高い関心を示し、その分野での功績も少なくない。ドイツではゲーテ学院とハノーファー教育大学も修了している。1983年に日本に渡り、大阪芸術大学と大阪教育大学で教鞭を取る。現在は大阪音楽大学特任教授、同志社女子大学嘱託講師とし、（財）ヤマハ音楽振興会マスタークラスで指導。ピアニスト・指導者としての足跡を積み重ねる中で、多くの講義とセミナーを行い、2冊のベストセラーを生む題材を手にする。1冊目は現在12刷を数えている「ソアレスのピアノ講座～演奏と指導のハンドブック」ピアノ奏者と指導者へのガイドブック。2冊目の「バッハ演奏ハンドブック」も8刷を重ねている。指導者として、多くの若い音楽家の才能を開花させ、ロン=ティボー国際コンクール、ジュネーブ国際音楽コンクール、浜松国際ピアノコンクール、エトリンゲン青少年国際ピアノコンクール等、数多くの国際コンクールの受賞者を輩出。PTNAのトヨタ賞と指導者賞を数回受賞。ドイツ、イタリア、フランスでの国際アカデミーにて講師を努める。審査員としての国内外での活躍も多く、チェコ／グスタフ・マーラー国際コンクールピアノ部門、イタリア／リチアーノ・ガンテヨーロピアン国際コンクール等がある。堺国際ピアノコンクールを創設。

Pianist

• Music Master Course Piano

At first he studied under Dulce Machado at the National University of Rio Grande de Sol, then from1972 to 1977, he studied under Professor Miguel Proensa at the National College of Music in Rio de Janeiro. 

After graduating, he moved to Germany as an exchange student of the West German government. He studied under Hans Leygraf at Hannover National College of Music. After that, he studied under Yarra Bernette at the Hamburg National College of Music. After graduating, he was invited to many concerts and recitals and performed with orchestras in Europe, Japan and the Middle East. In addition, many German songs are also included in the repertoire. He is also highly interested in the field of education, and has made many achievements in that field. In Germany, he has also completed the Goethe Academy and the Hannover University of Education. He moved to Japan in 1983 and taught at Osaka University of Arts and Osaka Kyoiku University.

Currently, he is a specially appointed professor at Osaka College of Music and a part-time lecturer at Doshisha Women’s University, and teaches in the Yamaha Music Foundation Master Class. While gaining experience as a pianist and teacher, he gave many lectures and seminars, and obtained the material he needed to write two bestsellers. The first book is the “Soares Piano Course-Handbook of Performance and Teaching”, which currently is on it’s 12th edition, and is a guidebook for piano players and teachers. The second “Bach Performance Handbook” is on it’s 8th edition.

As a leader, the talents of many young musicians have blossomed, and many are international competition winners in such competitions as the Long-Thibaud International Competition, the Geneva International Music Competition, the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition, and the Etlingen Youth International Piano Competition. He received PTNA’s Toyota Award and Leader’s Award several times. He lectured at international academies in Germany, Italy and France.

He has been active both in Japan and abroad as a judge, including at the Czech / Gustav Mahler International Competition Piano Division and the Italy / Riciano Gante European International Competition. He established the Sakai International Piano Competition in Osaka Japan.
